"If you're trying to achieve, there will be roadblocks. I've had them; everybody has had them. But obstacles don't have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don't turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it."

-- Michael Jordan

Texas Parkour Flight or Fight Workshop @ Austin

March 6th, 2010 : Cost TBA
FMU will be participating in the first ever Texas Parkour Flight or Fight Workshop on March 6th, 2010. It is always better to avoid a confrontation by any means necessary, if that fails, then you need to be prepared for the alternative. The Flight or Fight workshop will be bringing the two concepts together providing you with information, techniques and training drills that will better prepare you for real world self-defense. Texas Parkour is a non-profit organization that exists to spread the word regarding Parkour. FMU specializes in real-world combatives covering all melee ranges (empty hands, kicking, punching, trapping, grappling, stick fighting and knife fighting). I'll update this with more specific information once it is available.

Catch-As-Catch-Can (No-Gi) Grappling Tournament

March 13th, 2010 : Cost of $60 (weight division or open division, +$30 to enter both)
FMU is hosting a no-gi grappling tournament using the old school catch-as-catch-can rules. This will be a win-lose-draw tournament, no points for second best. There are weight divisions and an open division... $100 cash prize for each winner of every division (where 2 or more competitors are competing) and $100 cash prize and a belt for the open division. Facility is small, so competition will start with the lower weights and move up; finishing the day with the open division. For complete rules, contact FMU by phone at 817.938.8888. NOTE: In order to compete, must be signed up and payment made prior to weigh-ins on January 15th, 2010. Additionally, this is an 18 or older tournament.

We've updated the class schedule!

In order to better serve the student base, we've modified the schedule. This also serves to clear up some misunderstandings that the prior schedule caused. To see the new schedule, click here.

Children's Classes

We are forming a class specifically for children ages 10+. The curriculum is trimmed down from the adult program and is targetting to provide a good foundation that will last a lifetime of martial arts growth. At this point, we are discussing with potential students and parents the details of the program and adding people to a waiting list. To get added to the waiting list, there is an interview process that will need to take place. The first class will be limited to 12 students and will begin once we reach that number. As space is limited, it is important to act quickly. There are obviously more details regarding this initial class, so please feel free to contact us directly... it's an amazing opportunity for those that will be selected. This will be NOTHING like children's programs you've seen at other facilities! (Note, if not selected for the initial class, we will have future classes forming after these students pass their initial tests.)

New Site!

We've been working hard to bring you a new and improved website. As you probably can see, not much has "changed". ;-) The major changes are the underlying systems in place that allow us to bring you more content in a much more improved manner. To showcase this, we've added the Videos section that you can access on the left hand menu. Please feel free to browse through these and we will continue to add videos over time. If you come across any videos that you feel should be added, please send us a note containing a link and we'll consider it. So grab some popcorn and enjoy the show(s).

New floor!!!

We are now fortunate to have the best mats in the industry to train on. Dollamur Sport Surfaces provided a substantial discount on our new mats and we really appreciate their working within our budget to make this happen. Because of this, the school is now outfitted with wall to wall mats and even have some mats on the walls to work various techniques and excercises.
